The project aimed to elevate Dad’s Donuts from a local favorite to a broader brand by refining messaging, optimizing store performance, and introducing scalable marketing tactics, including targeted advertising, strategic partnerships, and potential franchise considerations to support growth.
Challenge
The brand faced messaging confusion, inconsistent store performance across locations, and variable demand, compounded by rising costs and labor pressures that strained profitability. There was a need to balance premium positioning with more affordable options to attract a wider customer base and stabilize revenue across locations.
Solutions
A four-part approach was implemented: 1) sharpened brand messaging around premium, all-natural donuts and the Dad’s Donuts story; 2) optimized operations and pricing to improve efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining quality; 3) introduced targeted marketing strategies, including local and planned campaigns to drive destination visits and corporate orders; 4) explored scalable growth options such as a commissary hub model and franchising readiness, plus delivery expansion to capture additional demand. These steps aimed to restore momentum, increase foot traffic, and lay the groundwork for sustainable expansion.
